Great visions often emerge from personal experiences, and Lemif International Hotel & Resort is no exception. At the heart of this ambitious project stands Miressa B. Gelmesd, an Ethiopian-born entrepreneur who transformed childhood struggles into a mission of inclusive hospitality.

Growing up in Bilo Boshe, Oromia, Miressa witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by people with disabilities. His nephew was born with disabilities, and despite his family’s relentless efforts, accessing medical treatment and necessary facilities proved impossible. Beyond the logistical barriers, deep-rooted social stigma and lack of awareness made inclusion nearly unattainable.

This experience planted a seed in young Miressa’s heart—one day, he would create a place where everyone, regardless of ability, could enjoy life without barriers.

A Journey of Learning and Discovery

Determined to make a difference, Miressa pursued medical studies to specialize in supporting individuals with special needs. His dedication earned him a scholarship at a private university, where he studied health sciences.

While studying, a new opportunity emerged—a chance to move to the United States through the Diversity Visa program. With the same childhood vision in mind, he took a bold step, believing that international exposure could help him bring real change to Ethiopia.

Building Expertise in the U.S. Hospitality Industry

In the United States, Miressa’s career took an unexpected but defining turn—he entered the high-end hospitality industry, where he gained firsthand experience in top-tier hotel management. Unlike in his hometown, he saw how well-structured hospitality services catered to individuals with special needs—from wheelchair-accessible rooms to staff trained in disability assistance.

This experience reshaped his perspective:

👉 Why not bring this world-class, inclusive hospitality model to Ethiopia?

👉 Why shouldn’t people with disabilities enjoy premium hospitality without discrimination?

Miressa spent years learning, managing, and mastering the art of customer service and hospitality, all while keeping Ethiopia in his heart.

Returning Home to Build the Dream

Fueled by this vision, Miressa took a major step in 2023—he acquired 10,000m² of land in Burayu, Sheger City, Oromia, just 16 km from Addis Ababa International Airport. This location would soon become the site of Lemif International Hotel & Resort, a four-star establishment designed with accessibility and inclusivity at its core.

The hotel aims to be a trailblazer in Ethiopian hospitality, offering:

Barrier-free accommodations for guests with disabilities
Luxury & comfort for all travelers
Employment opportunities for people with disabilities
A commitment to community development through sponsorships and scholarships

More Than a Business—A Social Impact Initiative

Lemif International Hotel & Resort isn’t just another hotel—it’s a statement. It’s about reshaping the hospitality industry in Ethiopia, proving that luxury and accessibility can coexist.

Through job creation, scholarships, and social programs, Miressa and his team are committed to breaking barriers and opening doors for the community.

This journey—from a childhood challenge to a groundbreaking hotel project—is a testament to perseverance, vision, and the power of giving back.

A Future of Inclusive Hospitality in Ethiopia

Lemif International Hotel & Resort is set to redefine how hotels in Ethiopia cater to diverse guests. With the project well underway, the future looks bright—not just for the business, but for everyone seeking a truly inclusive travel experience.
